Obama's not just a buffoon -- a tool of his handlers and enablers, he is the most dangerous man to have occupied the oval office in our history... hell-bent upon "fundamentally changing" the United States of America.  Between taking over automobile manufacturing, screwing shareholders in both General Motors and Chrysler in order to GIVE shares in those now-government-owned companies to UNIONS, taking over the banking industry, destroying the healthcare industry, increasing the deficit six-fold in less than 18 months, and on and on and on...

...this poseur is destroying the very foundation upon which our beloved nation is built.

Karl Rove a.k.a. bitter neocon...

Here's Karl Rove, bitter that the establishment RINO in Delaware lost, trashing Christine O'Donnell and making my case from my last post.

Rove sounds more like that wretched little "man," Keith Olbermann, than a Republican.  What an arrogant, pompous ass...

In the space of less than four minutes, Rove said --

  • "...this is the inexplicable one [about O'Donnell's victory]..."
  • "...she's dealt a defeat to one of the state's longest and best known and thought to be most beloved political figures..."
  • "...we have a true upset by somebody with little money, little track record..."
  • "...one thing that Christine O'Donnell is now going to have to answer in the general election that she didn't have to answer in the primary is her own checkered background..."
  • "...I've met her... I've gotta tell ya I wasn't frankly impressed as her [sic], you know, abilities as a candidate..."
  • "...these serious questions about how does she make her living, why did she mislead voters about her college education, how come it took her nearly two decades to pay her college bill so she could get her college degree?..."
  • "...how did she make a living, why did she sue a well-known and well thought-of conservative think tank?..."
  • "...it does conservatives little good to support candidates who, at the end of the day, while they may be conservative in their public statements, do not evince the characteristics of rectitude and truthfulness and sincerity and character that the voters are looking for... "
  • "...we'll see how she can answer these questions; she sure as heck didn't answer 'em thus far on the campaign..."
  • "...did you ask her about the people who are following her home to her headquarters and how she's checked each night in the bushes?..."
  • "...there's just a lot of nutty things she's been sayin'..."
  • "...we were lookin' at 8 to 9 seats in the Senate; we're now lookin' at 7 to 8..."
  • "...this is not a race we're gonna be able to win."
Wow.  Time for Rove to join other bitter losers like Arlen Specter, Charlie Crist, Lisa Murkowski, Sue Lowden, et al, and crawl back under their "establishment Republican" rock.  It is embarrassing to have these whiners out in the open.  "Republicans" like these are the reason I stopped giving money to "Republican" causes back in the 1990s.

Sean Hannity, who anyone who knows me knows I haven't much use for, surprisingly holds his ground.

Lord help me...

...I may be turning into one of "them."

You know -- "them."  A conservative Republican who puts conservative principles ahead of so-called "Republican wins."  One of "them," like those whom I've excoriated from Free Republic for being narrow-minded and singularly-focused.

I've always maintained that I'd rather see "moderate" Republicans (read: RINOs) like the Maine twins, Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe, or Lindsay Grahmnesty, or "maverick" John McCain with "Rs" behind their names elected rather than having folks with "Ds" behind their names occupying the various seats of power.  Kind of like holding my nose to vote for McCain two years ago... or George W. Bush (twice), or Bob Dole, or George H.W. Bush... heck -- the last person I felt good about voting for was Ronald Reagan.

After witnessing the Republican Party's shameful behavior in the Delaware Senatorial primary race between a Democrat pretending to be a Republican (Mike Castle, the "establishment favorite") and an honest-to-goodness conservative candidate, (Christine O'Donnell), I can't take it anymore.

To hell with RINOs.

The Republican Party announced BEFORE TODAY'S PRIMARY in Delaware that, should O'Donnell defeat THEIR favorite, Castle, that they (the Republican party) would NOT support her.  The Republican Party in Delaware launched a last-minute robo-call smear campaign against O'Donnell.  Call me overly simplistic, but I always thought that a political party's place was to present candidates to the electorate and, may the best man or woman win. Unless there was an incumbent, I always thought the "party" stayed out of the "endorsing business" until after the primary election. Well... maybe not even then. I remember when the Democrat party did NOT "take sides" when Robert F. Kennedy challenged the then-sitting President, Lyndon B. Johnson...


But this?  This blatant favoritism?  The threats of non-support?  This "thumb-in-the-eye" to those "little people" -- you know... the voters, who actually bestow upon these people the power they so-desperately crave is just too much.

I've had it.  Time to purge the Republican Party of these RINOs.

The "establishment" said that Ronald Reagan was unelectable -- he was elected twice, brought the nation back from the ruin that was Jimmy Carter's disastrous one-term Presidency, ushered in a new era of prosperity with a combination of tax cuts and less government regulation (a prosperity that lasted nearly 20 years -- Bill Clinton should be thankful) and... oh, by the way... did I mention that he and his policies were directly responsible for causing the collapse of the former Soviet Union, the end of the Cold War, and the reunification of Germany while he was busy fixing the mess left by Carter?  And, unlike the current empty suit in the White House, Reagan didn't spend his time whining about the "mess" he'd "inherited" from the previous President -- he just went about fixing it.

Oh... and he inspired an entire generation of formerly uninvolved citizens to be proud to be Americans again.

Not bad for someone who was "unelectable," eh?

Now the talking heads (mostly "neocon" Republicans like Karl Rove, Charles Krauthammer, Bill Kristol, and the like) are whining about how O'Donnell cannot possibly win in the general election in a little more than a month and a half; how the "selfish" and "angry" voters in Delaware just guaranteed a Democrat victory, come November, because of their uneducated choice of candidate for the United States Senate.

Like the way Martha Coakley defeated Scott Brown in Massachusetts last January?  Oh.  Wait.  That's right.  Scott Brown won, didn't he?

Don't buy the spoiled-sport nonsense from the "establishment" Republicans -- Christine O'Donnell IS eminently electable in November... the Republican "powers that be" just have their collective panties in a knot because they didn't get their way in the primary race.  Check their candidate, Mike Castle's voting record in the House of Representatives -- looks like a lot more of a Democrat than a Republican, that's for sure.

What's funny is that "establishment" Republicans insist that Republican candidates must be "moderate" in order to win elections.  You couldn't get much more "moderate" than John McCain, and Barack Obama cleaned his clock two years ago.  George W. Bush ran as a "moderate" Republican, and there has never been more of a "big government" Republican President in the history of the nation.  Bush strayed from the values that have historically been Republican, and eked out a victory over Al Gore in the Electoral College in 2000 and did only slightly better in 2004 against John ("did I mention that I served in Vietnam?") Kerry.

I think that when these power brokers emphasize the "need" for Republican candidates to be "moderate," what they are really doing is admitting defeat unless they field a slate of candidates who are, in reality, "Democrat lite."  Disgusting.  We are a center-right nation, with a large majority of our citizens having strong, Judeo-Christian, conservative values.  There is no need to field "Democrat lite" candidates in order for Republicans to win elections.  Rather, the Republican Party needs to field and support candidates who appeal to the broad voter base that the "inside the beltway" crowd generally despise.

Meanwhile, Republican candidates that actually embrace conservative values, like Ronald Reagan did over thirty years ago, are loved by the people and they win elections.  The "power brokers" don't like that, though -- those Republicans are too independent for their tastes.

Oh...

As an aside about Christine O'Donnell -- if she is so "unelectable," why was she the Republican party's nominee to face Joe Biden in 2008?  Biden wiped her out but then... he kindof outspent her, though --

$4,907,000 to $116,000

Given the sour mood of the electorate over the direction the Democrats have taken the country since winning back power in the 2006 elections, and adding to their totals in 2008, don't be surprised if Christine O'Donnell -- despite what the neocons say -- prevails on November 2nd.  Even Chris Matthews is worried that she will win.

After the elections, I think we need a thorough, top-to-bottom housecleaning of the Republican Party, starting with the Delaware Republican Party, whose head said that Christine O'Donnell is unelectable and that she "...couldn't win a race for dogcatcher."

Re-writing left-wing lunacy...

I happened upon a left-wing whack-a-doodle site this morning called Alternet.org which has an article on the "Top 10 Right-Wing Conspiracy Theories."

This is simply astounding...

The "conspiracy theories" listed were ALL originally created BY THE LEFT, and they were concerning the eeeeeeeeeeevil George W. Bush and his eeeeeeeeevil intentions...

Here, for your enjoyment, the 10 former "left-wing" conspiracies now miraculously attributed to the "right-wing:"

# 10 - The North American Union

Now allegedly a "right-wing conspiracy theory," this theory gained considerable traction in 2005 (quick!  who was President then?  10 points if you answered George W. Bush... 50 points if you answered the eeeeeeevil George W. Bush).  The premise was that the eeeeeeeeevil Bush (or, as those purveyors of fun and good cheer on the left liked to call him, Bush & Co., BushCo, Bushitler, Dubya, Baby Bush, King George, Dumbo, the chimp, shrub, etc.) was conspiring to create a secret "North American Union" between the United States, Canada, and Mexico, loosely based upon the now-failing European Union.  The kooks were even convinced that a gigantic (somehow still secret, though...) combination road/rail system was going to cut a huge swath -- north to south -- connecting Canada to Mexico through the United States.  They even warned that our currency was going to be thrown out, replaced by (what they claimed to be the still-secret-but-somehow-they-got-their-hands-on-the-plan) the "Amero." 

Of course, nothing of the sort took place, so this original invention of the left has now been conveniently converted -- by the same left that created it -- into a "right-wing conspiracy theory."  Good Lord...


# 9 - The Federal Reserve Conspiracy

There is no "conspiracy theory" by the "right-wing" regarding The Fed -- it was one of the most damaging things that "progressive" President, Woodrow Wilson, inflicted upon our country 97 years ago.  The Fed needs to be gotten rid of.  There have been calls ranging from  left-wing loons such as commentator Sam Donaldson to right-wing loons like Ron Paul to do just that -- eliminate The Fed.


# 8 - HAARP

The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (abbreviated as HAARP) is a joint research venture funded by the United States Air Force, the United States Navy, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) and the University of Alaska.  For years, conspiracy nuts on the left have been claiming that it is really a "secret" government program to control the weather, and/or to create earthquakes, and/or is a "secret directed energy weapon."  40-something year-old unemployed liberal men, blogging in their underpants from their mommies' basements, have been warning us about the eeeeeeeeevils of HAARP since early in the Bush Administration.


# 7 - Population Control

The left-wing loons' most recent outcry about this is the "conspiracy" by the government and British Petroleum to "kill millions" in the Gulf Coast region of the United States.  Check any number of left-wing sites for confirmation of this.  Caution:  you will need to shower after visiting those sites -- the hatred they contain is frightening.


# 6 - 9/11 As A Government Plot

Just check this out for your yourself.  The co-called "9/11 truthers" are most certainly NOT folks on the "right;" they are all left-wing loons... and Bush-haters.


# 5 - Gun Confiscations

I don't think this is a "conspiracy theory by the right-wing."  Rather, the idea expresses valid concerns by Second Amendment supporters over the "gun control" schemes promoted on the left by such prominent Democrats as President Barack Obama, Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY), Senator John Kerry (D-MA), Senator Jack Reed (D-RI), Senator Diane Feinstein (D-CA), new Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan, new Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley (D)... are you getting the picture yet?  No "conspiracy" here -- just FACT.  Democrats ultimately want even more control and to increase their power, and, if not stopped, will disarm Americans in order to do so.


# 4 - Foreign Troops on U.S. Soil

I'll almost concede this one.  There has long been concern by patriotic, conservative Americans over the prospect of United Nations' "troops" possibly being deployed in the United States.  In 2009, under socialist -- er., Marxist -- er, communist -- er, Democrat President Barack Obama, FEMA held joint exercises with the United States military and militaries from Australia, Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Germany, several African nations, and China on terrorism prevention... on American soil.  If being concerned about this makes me a "right-wing conspiracy theorist," I'll confess to being one... in this instance.


# 3 - FEMA Concentration Camps

One of my all-time favorites.  According to the left-wing whackos, who have been promoting this conspiracy theory almost from the time that they began whining about George W. Bush being selected, not elected in 2000, the eeeeeeeeeeeeevil George W. Bush (led by his equally eeeeeeevil puppet master, Dick Cheney) ordered the construction of secret FEMA concentration camps by the eeeeeeeeeevil Halliburton company, into which, it is assumed, Bush's detractors would be crammed, taken from their homes (most likely in the dead of night), herded aboard the "107,200 AutoMax Prison Cars" -- concentration camp rail cars -- allegedly ordered by FEMA from "Gunderson Steel," and taken away... never to be heard from again.

I am not making this up.  Google "automax prison cars" or "auto max prison cars."  Up will come links to some of the most left-wing sites on the internet... the usual suspects -- indymedia.org, prisonplanet.com, dailykos.com, rense.com, democraticunderground.com, rumormillnews.com, a blog called shadowgovernment, and on and on.  The common thread here?  Those sites are all left-wing loon, pro Democrat sites.  Although... some seem to be supporting Obama less and less these days as they moan about him not doing enough to speed the destruction of our Nation by the introduction and implementation of even more socialist/communist concepts to our beloved country.

Now that a socialist Democrat is President, this particular "conspiracy theory" has suddenly morphed from its origins as left-wing nonsense into newly-discovered, alleged right-wing nonsense.


# 2 - Martial Law

This was a HUGE concern among the left-wing underwear-clad basement bloggers throughout the entire eight years of the George W. Bush administration.  Left-wing sites from Democratic Underground, to Jeff Rense, to those fun-lovin' Kos-kids at the Daily Kos, to the huff 'n puffers at Huffington Post... the eeeeeeevil George W. Bush was going to declare martial law because of "terrorism," suspend the 2004, no... 2006, no... 2008 elections, and become the dictator of the United States of America.

Inconveniently for the proponents of this idiocy, the elections went ahead, just as scheduled.  Bush completed his two terms as President, a new President was elected, and the peaceful transfer of power took place, undeterred and unmarred, as it always has since the founding of the nation, from the outgoing President to the new.

No problem for the lefties, though.  Now that Obama is President, they simply ignore that this was a basic "theory," posited and promoted by them for nearly eight years, and simply claim that it is now a "right-wing conspiracy theory."


# 1 - Chemtrails

Another favorite, long-time left-wing conspiracy theory.  Google "chemtrails" and see how many "hits" you get that you would describe as "right wing"  (vs. hits you would describe as "left-wing").  I just googled it myself, and google showed 3,250,000 results for that word.  Right up there at the top you will again get links to the "usual suspects" -- Rense, Conspiracy Planet, shameless self-promoter Alex Jones and his la-la-land "Prison Planet" website (all three of which, on top of being extremely left-wing and Democrat-promoting, are virulently anti-Semitic), HuffPo, Daily Kos, RumorMillNews, and scores of links to New Age, left-wing psycho-babble sites, some going on and on about "faction X" and "faction Y" fighting for control of "the New World Order."  Lots of UFO stuff thrown in there, for good measure.  I guess the lefties think it enhances their credibility...

Suddenly the "issue" of "chemtrails" has been transformed from its origins as a left-wing kook theory to a "right-wing conspiracy theory."


Just another day in Paradise, eh?

The video speaks for itself...

I've often posted long-winded musings here (some have said diatribes) in the short time that I've had this blog.

I've come across a video that speaks far more eloquently than I ever could to the current state of affairs as led by our socialist minders in Washington DC (and their nanny-state political wannabe/fellow travellers at the State level).

The video comes from the Republican Study Committee, a conservative group of over 115 Republican members of Congress whose chairman is Georgia Congressman, Dr. Tom Price. Looks like Republican naysayers can no longer say that the GOP isn't spreading the conservative message. This short video showcases the very palpable (even frightening) differences between our ruling Democrats and the Constitutional principles embraced by most Republicans on the other side. At the risk of sounding overly-dramatic, the video spotlights the differences between good and evil...

Full-screen it and prepare to start taking our country back in a little more than 80 days ~



As an aside -- Ronald Reagan was the last person that I voted for in a Presidential election that I didn't have to hold my nose while so-doing.

Lightning strikes?

Yumpin' yiminy, Batman!

The other day in a post here about Hollywood nitwit, Spike Lee, my musings devolved to include the following paragraph:

Yes... just last week, the Obama Administration had to backtrack as Federal scientists (and we all know where they get their paychecks) announced that three quarters of the spilled oil is gone -- removed by various natural and/or artificial means. Most beaches are clear, although some marshes do remain fouled. Sea creatures are flourishing. The alarmists have been silenced. Hopefully, self-proclaimed oil industry "expert" and MSNBC frequent guest predictor of doom throughout the "disaster," Matt Simmons, has been shut-up once and for all (Simmons ominously warned that "methane from the well" was going to "kill millions of people" and also said repeatedly that the only way to get the runaway well stopped was with nuclear weapons, for crying out loud!).
Well...

My words about Simmons being "...shut-up once and for all..." have come to pass. 

He died, totally unexpectedly, last Sunday night in Maine (a few hours after I made my post).  News reports say that he accidentally drowned in his hot tub.

The left wing loons on the internet are cranking it up with all sorts of conspiracy theories about how Simmons was "silenced" or "murdered" by this "faction" or that "faction" for his comments about the Gulf of Mexico being "killed," his comments that BP hadn't really capped the blown well, and comments that BP was continuing to, with tacit government approval, deceive the public.

Good LORD...

A 67 year old man with a history of heart disease dies in his hot tub and the left-wing lunatics pounce on it as "proof" that Simmons angered the so-called "true" powers that be and "they" (whoever "they" might be) did a "Michael Corleone" to him...

Self-centered idiots...


Still...

Simmons dying within hours of me making a post that included a somewhat disparaging remark about him feels pretty weird, to say the least.

Another self-absorbed Hollywood nitwit...

Spike Lee.

Another self-absorbed Hollywood "luminary" who thinks that because he is a "somebody" in tinseltown, his opinions on things political matter to us.

Just like another Hollywood nitwit, Oliver Stone.

Actually, like soooooooo many other Hollywood nitwits, but it would take me well past sundown just to list the majority of them.

Back to Spike Lee.

The diminutive director (have I coined a new phrase?  -- would "diminutive dumbass director" be more appropriate?), who is African-American (I abhor the usage of any, "hyphenated-American" descriptor -- if I just say "black," will you be offended?  I hope not but, if you are, get over it...) back in 2005 agreed with Nation of Islam head honcho, the Jew-hating, white-hating, black supremacist lunatic, none other than Louis "Calypso-Louie" Farrakhan (the good friend of Obama's personal preacher for 20 years -- until "The One" threw him under the bus in late 2008, that is -- Jeremiah Wright...) that the United States Government purposely destroyed levees in New Orleans to flood the nearly all-black Ninth Ward in a "conspiracy to rid New Orleans of black people."

Yeah.  That makes sense.  Bush's fault...

Like another noted numbskull, so-called "entertainer," Kanye West, who, on September 2, 2005, while standing next to a shocked and speechless Mike Myers (think Austin Powers, baby...) famously blurted out during a fundraising telethon for the victims of Hurricane Katrina,

“George Bush doesn't care about black people.”

But I digress...

When questioned in 2005 about his theory on the destruction of the New Orleans levees, Lee responded testily,

“Because nobody saw, because nobody saw means, can it happen? Let me ask you a question: With the history of this country, you ever heard of 'Tuskegee experiment’? Answer! Answer!”


Not content with the controversy that stirred up, and drumming up support for his first film on Hurricane Katrina, in 2006 the diminutive dipstick (I think I like that better...) once again got himself in the limelight, blatantly marketing his film, postulating that possibly, the New Orleans levees were exploded:


“Here’s the thing.  Even today, a large part of the African-American community of New Orleans thinks that those levees were bombed. Now, whether that is true or not, that should not be discounted."
Then, he rattled off past government sins, including 1927’s Great Flood of Mississippi, when the levees were, indeed, blown up; the flooding of the Ninth Ward during Hurricane Betsy in 1965; the Tuskegee syphilis experiment.  He added,

“So, in the collective mind of African-Americans, it is not some science-fiction, hocus-pocus thing to say that the government is doing stuff.  Even if it didn’t happen, you cannot discount it and dismiss it as ‘Oh you people are crazy.’  It’s what people think—talk to Jewish people. Because of the Holocaust, you know, anything that happens, it’s like, ‘Oh! It’s starting again.’ And I’m not going to fault someone of Jewish ancestry that feels like that because that happened! This is history.’”


Ahhh... like the current crop of Democrats facing their Armageddon in less than 90 days, Lee unabashedly continues to play the last card left in the liberals' deck:  The race card.

Lee also has claimed, despite recount after recount after recount proving otherwise, that the 2000 Presidential election was "rigged."

Fast-forward to today.

The Obama Administration, after hyping the Gulf of Mexico oil disaster as the worst disaster in the history of the world (I think if the Democrat pollsters could interview dinosaurs, which were wiped out in a cataclysmic event some 65 million years ago, they might get an argument on comparing "worst" disasters...) now sheepishly has had to admit that good ol' Mother Nature, along with some help from chemical dispersants, natural wave action, cooperative weather, and BP's successful capping of their runaway oil well has pretty much cleaned up the "disaster in the Gulf."

The conspiracy theorists have egg on their faces (the mostly left-wing idiots who preached, "...the well was purposely destroyed to give the New World Order people a reason to evacuate the Gulf region and move millions of folks into secret internment camps that George Bush had built but that Obama is going to use to let them die so eeeeeeeevil rich people could gobble up all that valuable real estate..." -- I am NOT making this crap up; such "theories" abounded on left-wing-lunatic web sites like jeffrense.com, rumormillnews.com, floridaoilspilllaw.com, democraticunderground.com, the kos-kids at the dailykos.com, huffingtonpost.com, etc., but now are mysteriously and rapidly disappearing...).

Enter Spike Lee.

Yesterday, at a meeting of the Television Critics Association, Lee called the government report on the 75% of the oil being gone "...a lie," added that it's not likely, "abracadabra, presto chango..." that the vast majority of the oil which had spewed from BP's damaged Macondo well has vanished from the Gulf of Mexico, and petulantly stated,

“I don't care how many scientists BP buys, that oil did not disappear.”
There you have it, straight from that renowned oil industry expert, Spike Lee, who is trying to drum up interest for his second film on the horrors of Hurricane Katrina, coming soon to a TV near you on HBO...

The government's scientists -- Obama's scientists, for heaven's sake -- are lying!  Thus spake the tiny troublemaker, Spike Lee, shamelessly promoting yet another "documentary" of his.  Another "Spike Lee joint," whatever that is...

You know, Obama and his fellow travellers like to use the expression that Obama is the "post-racial" President; from what I've observed from their profligate use of many and varied race cards the post-racial President is, in reality, the most-racial President I have ever seen in my life.

Anchor Babies and the 14th Amendment...

You know, the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments to the Constitution were enacted as part of Reconstruction, after the Civil War, to guarantee that "Negroes" (as African-Americans were then known) could never again be slaves (13th Amendment, ratified in 1865), would be recognized as full-fledged citizens (14th Amendment, ratified in 1868), and could not be denied the right to vote based upon race (15th Amendment, ratified in 1870).

The 13th Amendment was simple, two sentences. It abolished slavery.

The 14th Amendment was a little more far-reaching, but the current controversy about "anchor babies" revolves around Section 1, which simply states:

Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

The primary purpose of Section 1 was to guarantee the citizenship of African-Americans who were born here, yet denied rights as citizens because of their race and their former status as slaves. In 1857, the United States Supreme Court, in the shameful Dred Scott Decision, held that African slaves and their descendants within the United States were NOT protected by the Constitution and could NEVER become citizens. The court also ruled that, because slaves were not citizens, they could not sue in court and that slaves, as the private property of their owners, could not be taken from their owners without due process.

Essentially, Section 1 of the 14th Amendment overturned much of the Dred Scott Decision and codified into law that former slaves and their descendants were citizens by birth and guaranteed them that citizenship and the rights that go with it.

It was never intended as "the anchor baby" Amendment; it was early civil rights legislation, enacted just after the Civil War.

Sixteen years after it was ratified, in 1884, the Supreme Court visited the 14th Amendment. The court ruled that American Indians who voluntarily quit their tribes did NOT automatically become U.S. citizens, even though they were born on American soil.

The "anchor baby" issue was a non-issue until 30 years after the 14th Amendment was ratified when the Supreme Court (the same Supreme Court that had ruled 41 years earlier that African-Americans could NEVER become U.S. citizens) re-visited the 14th Amendment.

First, some history that led to this second visit by the Supreme Court to the issue of the 14th Amendment.

In 1882, in a blatantly racist move, the United States Congress had enacted the "Chinese Exclusion Act" which prohibited Chinese from coming here or becoming naturalized citizens. It allowed Chinese who were already here to stay, but denied naturalization to them. Additionally, if they left the United States, they could not return. This law was challenged and, ultimately found its way to the Supreme Court.

Interpreting Section 1 of the 14th Amendment, the Supreme Court ruled, in 1898, that children of non-citizen Chinese immigrants were citizens because they had been born on U.S. soil. No distinction between "legal" and "illegal" immigrants was ever made at the time.

No subsequent court cases have EVER decided whether or not the children of legal or illegal immigrants are or are not citizens, under the 14th Amendment.

The 14th Amendment, intended to guarantee rights to African-Americans, has been bastardized by those who interpret the Amendment's original intent to include automatic citizenship to anyone born here.

This is insane.

The author of the 14th Amendment, Senator Jacob M. Howard, stated, in reference to the Amendment,

This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the family of ambassadors, or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons.
The original author's intent seems pretty clear here -- the law wasn't intended to automatically extend citizenship to persons born in the U.S. who are foreigners, aliens, family members of ambassadors, or diplomats.

Let's say that I have a fictional wife, and that my fictional wife is fictionally pregnant. We are visiting England, and my fictitional wife goes into labor and our fictional child is born there. That fictional child would NOT be a British citizen; he or she would be an American citizen, born to American parents, in Great Britain.

Perhaps it is time for the Supreme Court to visit, yet again, the issue of the 14th Amendment and settle the issue, once and for all.

In the meantime, a proposed California iniative, the California Taxpayer Protection Act of 2010, Initiative 09-0010, has been introduced to try and rectify the situation, by limiting and/or eliminating public benefits to illegal alien mothers and their children. While to some this may seem draconian, it is based upon existing law in five other states -- Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Oklahoma, and Arizona, and is closely patterned after the existing Oklahoma law. The California Taxpayer Protection Act of 2010 has recently begun the signature collection process to qualify it for the ballot.

Ted Hayes, the African-American activist and advocate for the homeless who unsuccessfully ran against Congresswoman Maxine Waters in 2008, a supporter of the proposed iniative, says it best:

American black men will stop the birth tourism problem connected to the 14th Amendment.

That law was meant for West African slaves, not Latinos crossing the border illegally.
Hayes adds, referring to the ballot iniative,

The Latinos want to make this about race. I’ll make this about race. The sponsors of this bill are not racists, they’re Americans and we stand with them.

Former U.S. Attorney Peter Nunez, a supporter of the ballot iniative, correctly notes,

The 14th Amendment was a way for this country to overcome slavery. Our current national policy doesn’t even allow diplomats in this country to gain citizenship through birth.
Isn't it time for this gross mis-interpretation/mis-application (IMO) of the 14th Amendment to either be ended, once and for all, or upheld by the Supreme Court?

On Illegal Aliens...

"Patty," from New York City, a very nice woman and a member of the online quit-smoking forum that I've belonged to for the past three years, posted yesterday, in a political thread concerning Arizona and that state's battle with the federal government over controlling our border with Mexico:


Actually, I think it should be made easier for people to GET green cards & citizenship - that would get them into the system and would stop a lot of the problems. I tutor Latinos ... many of them are illegal (we don't ask). They want to learn English & get a better job. I don't think they WANT to be illegal ... it's just that they have no choice (other than to not come here, and many of them don't see that as an option - there is work here, and there is no work where they come from).

I replied:


I can't agree with rewarding people whose first act in entering the country illegally happened to have been...

Illegal.

There are millions of people all over the planet who want to come to the United States and are IN LINE, going through the process LEGALLY.

To reward the millions of illegal aliens we have in the country is a slap in the face to all who have emigrated here legally.

My Mother was one of them. She emigrated here with her family, legally, from Nova Scotia, Canada, and, after waiting a prescribed amount of time, studying the American Constitution and American history, and passing examinations on what she had learned, she proudly became a naturalized citizen. December 8, 1941. Coincidentally, the day after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.

My late friend, Fred, was another. British by birth, he met and married an American girl. He applied to become an American citizen. Well over two years later, after having played by the rules, Fred became an American.

Nationally, unemployment hovers at just under 10% (it is really well over 20%, when one considers the "underemployed," those who have simply given up, and those who have exhausted their unemployment benefits (who are therefore, in some warped kind of Washington-think, no longer counted as "unemployed")).

Perhaps we differ in opinion because you are in New York, Patty, and you "...tutor Latinos ... many of them are illegal (we don't ask)," while I am in Southern California and have had to witness and deal with those illegal aliens and the havoc they've wrought upon our school systems, healthcare systems, neighborhood crime, prison/jail systems, and how they've depressed wages in nearly every industry here in the formerly "Golden State" for my entire life. Nine months ago, there was a Mexican gang-related shooting across the street from my house...

The Sheriff arrested... you guessed it... an illegal alien for the shooting. The shooting victim, also an illegal alien, went to the hospital in serious condition, costing taxpayers goodness-knows how much for his hospitalization and care.

What is needed, IMHO, is to enforce the employer sanctions that were part of President Reagan's amnesty package from 1986. Employer sanctions, ignored since those days when Reagan signed the Simpson-Mazzoli bill into law, need to be stiffened. Fine employers $10,000 for every illegal alien they are found to have hired. Charge them with felonies for second and subsequent offenses. The job market for illegal aliens would dry up and the majority of them will "self-deport."

Obama and his minions need to STOP playing political football with the serious business of the nation's security. Lest you think this is just an Obama-bash, I detested George W. Bush's "wink and a nod open border policy," as well.

I'm afraid that it's only a matter of time before some really bad people cross that border with some really evil intentions and our government will have been looking the other way, ignoring one of its core responsibilities as enumerated in the Constitution.

Here in cash-strapped California, the cost of our 2.6 MILLION illegal ailens that legal taxpayers have to shoulder is pegged at $21.8 BILLION dollars this year (more than our $19 billion budget deficit).

New York state is facing something like a $6.8 billion budget deficit this year, with Governor Paterson slashing things left and right to try and make ends meet; illegal aliens cost New York state $9.5 billion this year. Without the burden of illegal aliens, New York could be enjoying, even in these troubled economic times, a budget SURPLUS of $2.7 billion this year.

Control of our southern border must come first, before our elected "leaders" even consider extending any type of amnesty to the millions of illegal alien lawbreakers in our country. This is only fair to a.) American citizens, b.) those who want to become American citizens and who are playing by the rules to achieve that end, and c.) all American taxpayers, citizens or not, who, this year alone, are paying $113 BILLION in services to illegal aliens.

I thought surely that I would be assailed by the left-wing members of that online community, as so often happens when a conservative dares to express an opinion.

The "usual suspects" were... oddly silent.

Instead, I received many positive replies.  Perhaps there is hope, now that the majority of the country is waking up to the consequences of the 2008 elections.

Why is it...

...that those on the left can be so shrill, so obnoxious, so downright nasty?

Is it that they are so self-righteous -- and so unabashedly secure in their beliefs in both socialism and their socialist President -- that they, mindlessly spinning in their own orbits, think they tower head and shoulders above those who don't share their beliefs?

Or...

Is it simply that they are panicking because this "hopey/changey thing" hasn't turned out to be quite what their Messiah promised and that mainstream America is waking up to that fact with a huge case of collective buyers' remorse and is about to make the first of two major course corrections this coming November?


Witness alleged "comedienne" (and I use the term loosely) Stephanie Miller who simply MUST throw the disgusting term, "teabaggers" into the conversation and CBS "news contributor" Nancy Giles barking at St. Louis Tea Party co-founder Dana Loesch, "I'm talking, so shut your mouth" and then going on to rant about "Tea Party racism."

Stuck On Stupid, Race-baiting, Excusing A Racist, and Re-writing History...

The mind-numbing idiocy all too frequently on display by some of our "leaders" can be tryly stupefying...

1.  Stuck On Stupid ~ 

None other than Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX):



Memo to Congresswoman Jackson-Lee:

There are NOT "two Vietnams."  There is NO "North" and "South" Vietnam these days, and there hasn't been since your Democrat predecessors cut off funding to both the United States' war effort and to our then-allies, the Republic of South Vietnam, back in 1975.  Abandoned by the United States, the Republic of South Vietnam fell to the communist North Vietnamese that very year, resulting in the former North and South Vietnam merging into one communist nation, officially known as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

How in the world can voters be so obtuse that they continue to re-elect nitwits like this to positions of power and "leadership."  Were I a Texan, I'd be embarrassed.  Hell... I'm a Californian, and this empty-headed dipstick embarrasses me.  It's almost painful watching her demonstrate her ignorance.


2.  Race-baiting ~

None other than...

Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee --

...again. 

When last we saw this nitwit, she was making a fool of herself on the floor of the House of Representatives.  In an attempt to out-do her "nitwittery," we now find her jumping aboard "the Tea Party is racist bandwagon" at the just-concluded NAACP convention in Kansas City (side note: Isn't the very name of the NAACP -- the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People -- racist?), where she issued the following gem, comparing members of the Tea Party movement to the Ku Klux Klan (KKK):

… And I thank you professor very much. I’m going to be engaging you with those very powerful numbers that you have offered on what the tea party recognizes, uh, or is recognized as. Might I add my own P.S.? All those who wore sheets a long time ago have now lifted them off and started wearing...
[applause]
...uh, clothing, uh, with a name, say, I am part of the Tea Party.  Don't you be fooled. 
[voices: "That's right." more applause]
Those who used to wear sheets are now being able to walk down the aisle and speak as a patriot because you will not speak loudly about the lack of integrity of this movement. Don’t let anybody tell you that those who spit on us as we were walking to vote on a health care bill for all of America or those who said Congresswoman Jackson-Lee’s braids were too tight in her hair had anything to do with justice and equality and empowerment of the American people. Don’t let them fool you on that
[applause]….

Too bad the media ignores (and the schools don't teach...) the fact that the KKK was launched by, populated by, and a haven for, the Democrats, initially because they were unhappy about Republican President Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation, eh?  The media (and textbooks) also conveniently ignore the fact that the KKK remained a Democrat "institution" in the South for the next one hundred years.




3.  Excusing A Racist ~

The recently-deceased, longest-serving-Senator in U.S. history, Robert C. Byrd (D-WV) started his own chapter of the KKK in the early 1940s, became a "Kleagle" (recruiter) and, ultimately, and was unanimously elected to the position of "Exalted Cyclops" of his local Klan "unit."

At Byrd's memorial service, former President Bill Clinton, glossing over Byrd's affiliation with the Klan, eulogized,

I'll tell you what it means. He was a country boy from the hills and hollers of West Virginia, he was trying to get elected," Clinton said. "And maybe he did something he shouldn't have done, and he spent the rest of his life making it up. And that's what a good person does.
An interesting take.  If Byrd joined the Klan because he was "...trying to get elected," why was he a member of it for all of those years prior to being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1952?

Oh.

That's right.

Byrd was a Democrat.

Nothing to see here, folks.  Move along...


4.  Re-writing History ~

A tale of two passings --

The headlines of the passings of two racist Senators -- one Democrat, the other Republican -- by the New York Times, America's self-proclaimed "newspaper of record," is quite telling -- when Democrat Byrd recently passed away, the Times' headline was:

Robert Byrd, Respected Voice of the Senate, Dies at 92

When 100 year old Republican Senator, Strom Thurmond, passed away in 2003, the Times' headline read:

Strom Thurmond, Foe of Integration, Dies at 100

Media bias, anyone?  Ya think?

 

And, how do the history re-writers defend the following from a letter written by Byrd to segregationist Senator, Theodore Bilbo (D-MS) in 1944:

I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side ... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds.
Or this, from 1947 correspondence by Byrd to Dr. Samuel Green, Grand Wizard of the KKK, in which he (Byrd) recommended a friend as a "Kleagle," urged promotion of the Klan throughout the nation, and wrote:

The Klan is needed today as never before and I am anxious to see its rebirth here in West Virginia.
Byrd hated Martin Luther King, suggesting to the FBI in early 1968 that he (Byrd) could give a speech condemning King on the floor of the Senate and adding that it was time that Dr. King...

...met his Waterloo.
Imagine, if you will, that documentation was unearthed that a Republican had written or proposed such things...

The media's silence is, and has been, deafening.

The history re-writers don't defend Byrd's "...never fight... with a Negro by my side," his "...race mongrels" reference, his call for the "...rebirth of the Klan," or his "...time for Dr. King to meet his Waterloo" comments; they simply ignore them.


Byrd even filibustered the 1964 Civil Rights Act, and opposed the Voting Rights Act of 1965.  He voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1968, however, as he came to the realization that he would have to temper his segregationist views if he wanted to achieve prominence nationally.  He claimed that he'd previously viewed segregation as a "states' rights" issue but now, as a Baptist, he saw the errors of his ways.

To this day, the late Republican Senator, Barry Goldwater, is vilified for having voted against the 1964 Civil Rights Act; the media is oddly silent about the fact that Byrd, likewise, voted against that landmark legislation.  In the 1950s and early 1960s, Goldwater had a strong
pro-civil rights record that included working with the Arizona NAACP to desegregate the Arizona school system. He was opposed to the 1964 Civil Rights Act solely on Constitutional grounds, because he felt it was an overreaching of Congress' power to regulate interstate commerce and an abridgement of the 10th Amendment.


Goldwater was a Constitutionalist.

Byrd's reason for opposing the 1964 Civil Rights Act?

Byrd was simply a racist.  But, as a Democrat, he got, and continues to get, even in death, a pass.

During his 14 hour filibuster against the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Byrd quoted from a book called The Mind of Primitive Man, by Franz Boas (sometimes referred to as Frank Boaz), in which Boas wrote that white people’s brains weighed a few grams more than black people’s brains, and that whites were therefore more intelligent.  Byrd also claimed during his filibuster that the writers of the Declaration of Independence did not intend for their words about all men being "created equal" to be taken literally because the Founders must have understood that all men are not created equal; that the dark-skinned man is inferior.  Byrd even quoted Leviticus, in the Bible, in an attempt to justify his racist stand on segregation:

"In Leviticus, chapter 19, verse 19, we find the words: ‘Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow they field with mingled seed.’ God’s statutes, therefore, recognize the natural order of the separateness of things."
Again, imagine that some Republican was spouting or had spouted this kind of crap on the floor of the United States Senate... In death, do you suppose for a second that the New York Times would refer to such an imaginary Republican racist as the "Respected Voice of the Senate" in a headline? The mind boggles...


Recapping -- Goldwater was a Constitutionalist, Byrd was a segregationist/racist.  Yet, history has now been re-written to teach that Byrd was a Constitutionalist; a Constitutional scholar, and that Goldwater was merely an eeeeeeevil racist.

You won't be hearing about any of this on the evening news, or reading about it in "America's newspaper of record" any time soon.

Robert Byrd lived a long and full life.  He brought home so much pork that it seems like most of the public works projects in West Virginia were named for him before he was even dead.  As noted, he was the longest-serving Senator in U.S. history.  But... he was a racist bastard whose history of racism, solely because of the fact that he was a Democrat, is ignored by his "fellow travellers" on the left and their water-carriers in the "mainstream" media.

A Milestone...

Today marks a milestone that I just want to gloat a little about --

Pride may be one of the seven deadly sins but, in this case, I hope I am forgiven because I am proud to shout from the rooftops that:

As of today, I have been smoke, tobacco, and nicotine free for three years.

Yaaaaaaaay, me! 

Had someone told me three years plus one day ago that I would quit smoking, I would've thought them insane.  I'd smoked 2 - 2-1/2 packs a day for the better part of 40 years and the addict within had successfully rationalized/fooled me into believing that, since quitting smoking would be impossible, it would be stupid to even try.

God!  I hate the addiction; I detest the nicodemon.

I "accidentally" quit smoking July 15, 2007.  I say "accidentally" because I had no intention whatsoever of stopping smoking.  In fact, two days before, Friday, July 13, I had just purchased my weekly two cartons of cigarettes at Costco.

I awakened on Saturday with, out of the clear blue, what was one of the worst colds I'd experienced since childhood.  Coughing, chest congested, sore throat, fever, aches in body parts I didn't know even existed...

As always when I would get a cold, I'd continue smoking, only less because, a.) they tasted even crappier than usual and, b.) they made me cough and hack.  So it was on that Saturday.  I coughed and choked my way through probably 6-10 cigarettes over the course of that day and finally just went back to sleep.  Woke up Sunday and started the same routine all over again -- light a cigarette, inhale, cough and hack and wheeze.  Finally, at about 12:15 that afternoon, I ground out what was to be the last cigarette I would ever smoke.  For the rest of the day and into the evening, every time I'd want a cigarette, I'd tell myself, "later," because I was feeling so poorly.

The next day (Monday), even though really sick, I went to work.  Took my normal two packs of cigarettes and my lighter in with me and put them in their usual place.  Whenever I'd want a cigarette, I'd tell myself, "later," as I had done on Sunday.  I got through the work day and both of my packages of cigarettes were still unopened.  I marveled that it had been over 28 hours since I'd smoked a cigarette, and half-heartedly thought about "just seeing how long I could go without one."  I went home, leaving the cigarettes and lighter in my car.

Maybe God was guiding my thoughts because, when it dawned on me to avail myself of this wonderful resource called "the Internet" regarding smoking cessation, for some reason I searched on the words "nicotine addiction" rather than "quit smoking" or "quitting smoking."

I came across a marvelous informational/educational site called whyquit.com.

One of the first things that I learned there is that nicotine is flushed from the body 72 hours after smoking cessation.  Surprised by this, I realized that I was already over one third of the way to being nicotine-free, from a physiological standpoint at least.

Thus began my journey.  Education was KEY.  Education about the insidious nature of the addiction to nicotine, and how to overcome it; how to defeat it.

I found other great educational resources online, and voraciously read what they had to offer.

Thirty two days into what was still a very shaky "stop" smoking effort (I didn't dare to even think the words "quit smoking," much less say them, because the addict within still had me convinced that my not smoking was just a temporary thing and that, when I ultimately resumed smoking, it would somehow seem less hypocritical for me to be able to rationalize, "...well, it's not like I QUIT or anything; I only STOPPED.") I stumbled upon a wonderful quit smoking support group.  I lurked and read there for a couple of weeks and finally registered on September 1, 2007.

One of the first things that an "old-timer" there told me was that, while difficult, quitting smoking was so, SO "doable."  I believed her; she was right.  Had it not been for this great support group, I have little doubt that I wouldn't be celebrating this marvelous milestone today.

I have had a "quit smoking meter" running on my computer for these years and, as of moments ago it read:

I have been quit for 3 Years, 3 hours, 12 minutes and 50 seconds (1,096 days). I have saved $9,591.16 by not smoking 54,806 cigarettes. I have saved 6 Months, 6 Days, 7 hours and 10 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 7/15/2007 12:15 PM

I only wish I would've done this while my Mother was alive.  In one of our last conversations before her death, after I'd come back into her house after smoking on the porch, she said, "oh hon, I wish you'd quit smoking."  I (typical addict) took offense and replied somewhat testily, "well... YOU taught ME!"

In a hushed, almost little girl voice she said, "I know.  We didn't know any better."

I've felt guilty about that exchange ever since.  I dedicate my quit to the memory of my dear Mother.

As an aside, if anyone who reads this is a smoker who would like to rid themselves of our shared addiction, just remember...

After smoking 2 - 2-1/2 packs a day for 40 years, if I can do this, certainly you can.

Hypocrites and Arizona's Immigration Law

"Boycott Arizona!" shout the California Democrats, in faux outrage.

"Arizona's new law will lead to racial profiling!" shout the race-baiters on the left.

"Progressives" (code-talk for "liberals," since the term "liberal" is viewed negatively by a majority of Americans these days) rail about the "horrors" of a law that hasn't even gone into effect yet.

"Republican" gubernatorial aspirant/candidate Meg Whitman -- Arnold Schwarzenegger-without-the-penis -- is running campaign ads in Spanish denouncing Arizona's new law, S.B. 1070, while at the same time trying to straddle the fence by telling the non-Spanish media, "...I'm against amnesty."

Her campaign even has billboards touting the fact that she (despite having been mostly politically inactive for 28 years -- not even bothering to vote or even register to vote during much of that stretch) was "against Proposition 187" (the "Save Our State" California ballot initiative passed overwhelmingly by California voters in 1994 - 59% to 41% - in an attempt to deal with the myriad of problems caused by the hordes of illegal aliens streaming, unchecked, into the state... implementation of which was delayed by our activist court system and ultimately allowed to die when Democrat Governor Gray Davis dropped the state's appeal of the court decision in 1999).

This translates to --

"NO on Proposition 187 and NO on the Arizona law."

Interesting side note:  Whitman didn't even LIVE in California when Proposition 187 was passed.  She was then living in Massachusetts, working for Hasbro Toys, for the division that markets Mr. Potato Head.

But I digress...


Moving on --

There is an interesting law that can be found lurking in the bowels of the California Penal Code. A law that we certainly will hear nothing about in the so-called "mainstream media," and yet existing  law, nonetheless.  It's on the books, here in the formerly "golden" state.

It's innocuously labeled "California Penal Code Section 834b."

Here is the statute, in its entirety (my emphasis in red), and a link to it on the california.gov website:

834b.
(a) Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service* regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws.

(b) With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the following:

(1) Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and
place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding documentation to indicate his or her legal status.

(2) Notify the person of his or her apparent status as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws and inform him or her that, apart from any criminal justice proceedings, he or she must either obtain legal status or leave the United States.

(3) Notify the Attorney General of California and the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service* of the apparent illegal status and provide any additional information that may be requested by any other public entity.

(c) Any legislative, administrative, or other action by a city, county, or other legally authorized local governmental entity with jurisdictional boundaries, or by a law enforcement agency, to prevent or limit the cooperation required by subdivision (a) is expressly prohibited.

There you have it.  The new Arizona law mirrors what is already existing law in the California Penal Code (in addition to mirroring existing Federal law).

And yet, our sanctimonious, hypocritical "leaders" attack Arizona as if its new law, enacted in self-defense because of the Federal government's refusal to enforce existing Federal law, heralds the second coming of the Third Reich.

Does this mean that Los Angeles will boycott California?

Coincidentally a close reading of CPC Section 834b.(c) (the final paragraph in the law quoted, above) would seem to indicate that so-called "sanctuary cities" (Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, and others) are actually in violation of existing California law due to their policies of non-enforcement of this law.

Don't expect Attorney General Jerry Brown ("self-entitled" career politician, failed former Governor - two terms before**- who is running, yet again, for that office) to file suit any time soon against our "sanctuary cities," though.  Like anarchists throughout history, Brown and his ilk "pick and choose" which laws they will enforce, mainly out of political expediency.

Both Jerry Brown and his "RINO" opponent this coming November, Meg Whitman, are pandering to the Hispanic voters, as is our President on the national level by having his Department of Justice file suit against the State of Arizona.

The gubernatorial election this coming November here in the once-great-state of California is certainly going to be a "hold your nose and vote" affair.

Again.

Just as barf bags are standard-issue in the seat-backs of commercial aircraft, so should they be mandatory for anyone observing the political machinations of those who deign to "govern" us and who will say and do anything to achieve that purpose.

*The United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) ceased to exist on March 1, 2003.  It was replaced by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as part of the newly-formed U.S. Department of Homeland Security after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

**Despite California voters having enacted strict term limits in 1990, which included limiting the Governor to no more than two terms, former two-term Governor Jerry Brown is exempt from this limitation, as both terms of his failed Governorship took place between 1975 and 1983, prior to the law's implementation.  While not violating the letter of the term limits law, Brown running for a third term as Governor certainly violates the spirit of that law...

Like a petulant child...

That pretty much sums up our thin-skinned current occupant of the White House and the lackeys er, henchmen er, minions who comprise his Administration.

As everyone knows, on April 20th of this year, the BP-leased deepwater oil drilling platform, Deepwater Horizon, exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, killing 11 oil workers, sinking, and leading to what is now recognized as the worst man-caused environmental disaster in history.

On May 6th, President Obama, seizing on the "never let a good crisis go to waste" philosophy of his fellow Chicago thug, Rahm Emanuel, slapped a one-month moratorium on deep-water oil exploration and drilling, immediately shutting down 33 producing and exploratory wells.  On May 27th, Obama arbitrarily extended this ban to six months.

Politically, the disaster was proving to be a Godsend for Obama and his seemingly limitless big-government ambitions... a perfect opportunity for the President to push his punishing "Cap and Trade" legislation and begin to "wean us off of" our dependency upon so-called "fossil fuels" and usher us into a new era of "green energy" -- green energy which, despite not even existing yet, is a major cornerstone of his Socialist agenda.

Several companies, led by Hornbeck Offshore Services, Inc., an oil industry services provider, filed suit against the moratorium, arguing that the drilling ban was arbitrarily imposed after the Deepwater Horizon tragedy (and ensuing blowout on the ocean floor) and that the ban would cause them "irreparable economic harm."

On June 22nd, U.S. District Judge Martin Feldman ruled for the plaintiffs and against the Obama Administration.  He was immediately attacked by the left-wing blogosphere and their big brothers, the "mainstream media."  Feldman had, after all, been appointed by that eeeeeeeeevil Republican, Ronald Reagan...

Shocked that this mere Federal Judge would have the temerity to actually dare to overrule "The One," the Administration immediately appealed Judge Feldman's ruling.

Yesterday, a panel of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, in New Orleans, issued their ruling --

In a 2-1 decision, they ruled against the Obama Administration and upheld Judge Feldman's ruling overturning the arbitrary drilling moratorium.

Don't expect a return to drilling any tine soon, however -- Obama (through his politically-appointed mouthpiece, "fellow traveler" Interior Secretary Ken Salazar) has already announced that they will be issuing a new "refined" drilling moratorium "soon."

In the meantime, thousands of good paying jobs (in the $50,000 - $90,000 per year range) in the Gulf are now lost, and America's domestic oil production seems poised to decline by over 82,000 barrels per day (30 million barrels a year).

Like a spoiled, petulant child, the national failed experiment that we refer to as "President" cannot take "no" for an answer.

I've often written "remember in November" but, with the increase to an almost daily level of dangerous maneuverings, machinations, and utterances from this dreadful mistake known as Obama, I feel I must change that to a somber --

"November or never."

Another Useful Idiot...

It seems the Milwaukee County Board (that's in Wisconsin, in case you are geographically challenged --  this statement will make sense when you watch the video...), in debating weighty issues like whether or not the County should boycott Arizona businesses it (the County) does business with, offered this bit of intelligent commentary by one of the County Supervisors, a nitwit named Peggy West:



The money quote:
If this was Texas, which is a state that is directly on the border with Mexico, and they were calling for a measure like this saying that they had a major issue with undocumented people flooding their borders, I would have to look twice at this. But this is a state that is a ways removed from the border...
Her fellow Supervisor, Joseph Rice (6th District), a Republican with a little better grasp of United States geography, and waiting until after she'd made a total fool of herself, then points out that Arizona does, indeed, share a border with the country of Mexico.

As an extra-bonus item, it turns out that, in addition to being a Milwaukee County Supervisor (12th District), this dimbulb, Peggy West, is on the Executive Committee of the Milwaukee Democratic Party...

Right On Cue...

As a follow-up to what I posted three short days ago about the Democrats holding back $500 billion of the $787 "stimulus" money from February, 2009 to use in an attempt to try and influence this November's upcoming elections, and as new jobless claims climbed yet again last week to add a new weekly total of 472,000 to the swelling ranks of the unemployed, this news today (emphasis mine) from Politico.com:

BREAKING — OBAMA, BIDEN DECLARE “RECOVERY SUMMER”: Vice President Biden today will kick off “Recovery Summer,” a six-week-long push designed to highlight the jobs accompanying a surge in stimulus-funded projects to improve highways, parks, drinking water and other public works. Biden will present President Obama with a report laying out a spike in stimulus activity this summer, and how it will contribute to a steady climb to a total of 3.5 million Recovery Act jobs by the end of the year. Biden, Obama and other administration officials will travel to more than two dozen Recovery Act project sites in coming weeks. Tomorrow, the president will travel to Columbus, Ohio, to mark the groundbreaking of the 10,000th Recovery Act road project, around Nationwide Children’s Hospital. On Monday, Biden will travel to Midland, Mich., for the groundbreaking of the new Dow Kokam advanced battery manufacturing facility.
–David Axelrod said: “This summer will be the most active Recovery Act season yet, with thousands of highly-visible road, bridge, water and other infrastructure projects breaking ground across the country, giving the American people a first-hand look at the Recovery Act in their own backyards and making it crystal clear what the cost would have been of doing nothing. … In the face of the greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression, Republicans in Congress chose to play politics with economic recovery and declared the Recovery Act a failure before it even began. They made a cynical bet that if the President fails, they win. Democrats chose to act by tackling the crisis head-on. Just over a year later, the Recovery Act is putting millions of Americans to work and helping the economy grow again. But our work is far from over.”
Shameful, blatant political posturing.  "Create" jobs (all of which would appear to be temporary, "public works"-type jobs) and attempt to regain their phony political mantle of being "...for the little guy."

I called this three days ago, but I am amazed that it is coming to pass both so quickly and so palpably.

Yet Another “Emergency” ~ Obama Wants Even MORE Deficit Spending...

Why is President Obama asking for an additional $50 billion in “emergency” stimulus spending to “save the jobs” of one of the Democrats' core support groups, namely unionized public employees?

I know, I know -- dumb question...

It's a deliberate maneuver designed to keep the ever-increasing legions of so-called “public-sector employees” both fully employed -- high salaries, raises, benefits, and all -- and happy while those of us in the private sector have to contend with the very real world economic woes created by our “leaders” (term used exceedingly loosely, and with more than a hint of contempt...).

The $50 billion is actually a gift to organized labor -- The American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), The Service Employees International Union (SEIU), the National Education Association (NEA), and the AFL-CIO.  You know -- Big Labor.  The same folks that just threw $10 million of their members' dollars in the toilet in their unsuccessful bid to unseat and punish Arkansas Democrat Senator Blanche Lincoln.  And, lest you think that's just me, gettin' all negative (a trait I've been accused of), here is the quote from Slate.com (an extreme left-wing outlet, BTW), citing an unnamed “senior administration official:”

“...organized labor just flushed $10 million of their members' money down the toilet on a pointless exercise. If even half that total had been well-targeted and applied in key House races across this country, that could have made a real difference in November. ”
But I digress...

Obama sent a letter to Congressional leaders this past Saturday asking them to quickly approve this new "emergency spending" to, as he put it, avoid:

“...massive layoffs of teachers, police and firefighters.”
It never ends, does it?

The BS, I mean.

What about the balance of last year's $787 billion stimulus (porkulus) package? You know -- the one that Obama said the Congress MUST pass immediately in February, 2009 or else the unemployment rate would climb to over 8%?

Well... THAT part of the hopey-changey thing hasn't worked out real well now, has it?  Nationally, the unemployment rate is 9.7%, but that is artificially low because the government hired over 411,000 temporary workers to “work” taking the Constitutionally-mandated census.  The figure is ALSO artificially low for reasons I pointed out back on June 4th.

Back to 2009's $787 billion stimulus package -- of the total amount, $500 billion was never spent.

Let me type that s l o w l y so that you can read it s l o w l y :

$500 BILLION of the $787 BILLION “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act” (a.k.a. “stimulus” or “porkulus” package) hasn't been spent.  Yet.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, cats and dogs, and ships at sea...

The Democrats "back loaded" the porkulus package stimulus bill nearly a year and a half ago, meaning that the majority of the spending is, and always has been by design, slated to take place between now and next November's elections.

It's the Democrats' “secret weapon;” their “ace in the hole,” so to speak, to help them in their attempt to buy electoral success in the upcoming elections.  A good chunk of those $500 billion unspent dollars is available to flood the economy in the next +/-140 days, so they can say (or, so the plan is for them to be able to say), “See?  The economy is improving!  We're creating and saving jobs!  We're so wonderful!  Vote for us!”

The Democrats' passed their pay-as-you-go legislation (PAYGO) and Obama signed it this past February.  Under the law, all increases in spending are supposed to be offset either by cuts somewhere else or by tax increases.  Obama, getting in one of his countless "blame-Bush" swipes, after signing the bill said in his weekly radio address:

“Now, Congress will have to pay for what it spends, just like everybody else.  After a decade of profligacy, the American people are tired of politicians who talk the talk but don’t walk the walk when it comes to fiscal responsibility. It’s easy to get up in front of the cameras and rant against exploding deficits. What’s hard is actually getting deficits under control. But that’s what we must do.”
Continuing to bash Bush, The One went on:

“It was the abandonment of this rule that allowed the previous administration and previous congresses to pass massive tax cuts for the wealthy and create an expensive new drug program without paying for any of it...
The only problem is that any spending that the politicians call “emergency” spending is exempted from PAYGO requirements.

That's what led to Republican Senator Jim Bunning being vilified last February by both the Democrats and their water carriers in the press for “blocking unemployment” when, in fact, he was simply saying that, under PAYGO, the unemployment extension should be, and could be paid for with existing funds. The Democrats' faux outrage (once more abetted by their media enablers) was repeated again in late March when Republican Senator Tom Coburn was branded as the next eeeeeeevil Republican trying to “block unemployment” when he, like Bunning before him, was simply saying that, again under PAYGO, the latest unemployment extension should be, and could be, paid for with existing monies.

Why has every unemployment extension bill been an “emergency” bill when there is this HUGE untapped pool of federal dollars created nearly a year and a half ago?  Why is Obama's latest urgent plea to Congress yet another “emergency?”

The answer is simple -- the Democrats care not one whit for the unemployed, or so-called job-creation.

This is, and always has been, about power. 

And Democrats retaining it.

At all costs.

Literally.

That money is needed to help them to attain that goal; the public be damned.

The fly in the ointment here is the embarrassingly inept “handling” of what is the largest environmental disaster we have ever seen by our golfing, vacationing, partying, hob-nobbing with Paul McCartney, looking-for-someone's-ass-to-kick, (did I mention golfing?) empty-suit-in-chief and his political cronies AND their blatant attempt to politicize this disaster to further their goal of enacting the Global Warming bill, Cap and Trade legislation, now re-named American Power Act.

Citing the Gulf oil disaster, The Chosen One will push hard in his teleprompter address to the Nation tomorrow night for enactment of his next socialist power-grab, the re-christened yet same-old, same-old American Power Act.  Going to Las Vegas?  You can bet on it.

Let us pray that the electorate hasn't been dumbed down to the extent that they actually buy into these subterfuges by the social engineers that seem hell-bent on destroying our once-proud nation and replacing it with their vision of progressivism/socialism.

And Now, A Moment Of Silence...

Thankfully, today is Primary Election day, 2010.

The day long looked forward to as the day my phone will go silent.

The politicians, trying to compensate for the ridiculously high cost of advertising here in California, and in an attempt to make their campaign dollars go ever-further, seem to have ALL discovered the use of "robo-calls" AT ONCE this particular election cycle.

I must be a V.I.P., though --

In the past couple of weeks, I've been called by Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Sheriff Joe Arpaio, Meg Whitman, Steve Poizner, Tom McClintock, Sarah Palin... I even got calls from ol' "never-complete-a-term-he'd-been-elected-for-in-an-office-he'd-been-elected-to-so-he-could-run-for-yet-another-elective-office-that-he'd-vowed-not-to-run-for" Pete Wilson, himself... oh, brother...

I was crushed when I learned that Sarah Palin called 649,999 other likely California voters, and not just me... 

I have literally been getting 8-10 (some days even more) of these intrusive, damned phone calls by automated phone banks urging me to vote this way or that, for this candidate or that, for or against this or that statewide proposition...

...it has been truly maddening!  I even picked up the phone yesterday (I usually just let my answering machine "screen" out these political calls) and screamed at the recording, "...one more... ONE MORE of these damned calls and you will drive me to NOT VOTE!"

Of course the pre-recorded message droned on, undeterred by my rant.  I felt foolish afterward for yelling at a recorded message.  It was kind of like swearing at the coffee table after you've stubbed your toe on it.  The coffee table doesn't care.  Like the political message, the table just carries on... 

So today, I have one blessed day of telephone silence, and I am already enjoying it.  I may prepare a pork roast in celebration.  If I were still a drinking man, I'd open a bottle of Johnnie Walker Gold.

The damned phone will start ringing off the hook again tomorrow... all the way to next November's General Election, so I savor these few hours of phone silence bliss.
